About Us

Lleweni Parc is in many ways the realisation of a soaring dream for Rod Witter.  A glider pilot for more years than he cares to remember, Rod has flown in the area over several decades from Cosford, Bryngwyn Bach and latterly from Lleweni Parc.  Realising that the Snowdonia Wave was always in phase with the Vale of Clwyd, Rod set out to find the perfect site to take advantage of that fantastic wave – and finally found it at Lleweni in the late 1980s.

Lleweni Parc is supported by Rodney and his wife, Sue Witter.

Chris Gill is the CFI. He came to us from Sutton Bank and operates the Arcus M to provide soaring coaching for inexperienced pilots. We find that many clubs can’t provide this kind of coaching, which attracts many of our customers. Chris has done lots of enterprising flying since coming here, including re-pioneering the ridge run from Conwy down to Nefyn in a NWly wind (as seen in pic above). Chris has spent many hours soaring hills low down, lots of wave flights over 20,000ft and flying many KMs in thermal. Unsurprisingly he is currently holding the record for our ridge task at an average speed of over 160kph! Come and beat him!

Ian Stewart is Groundsman for Lleweni Parc and also serves as an excellent winch driver. Together with Rod he is responsible for the maintenance of the beautiful woodland and water environments and paths at Lleweni Parc. Ian is our resident fishing expert!
